Frequently Asked Questions for Administrators
Below are commonly asked questions along with answers to help administrators understand how Google Classroom works, including EasyBridge.
Yes, this works for all Easybridge districts. Teachers in EasyBridge Plus districts who would like to use the Google Classroom integration can match their Easybridge classes in Realize to a Google Classroom class. Teachers who do not use Google Classroom can choose to use the Easybridge-created classes in Realize. It is recommended that you continue to provision Realize using Easybridge, as you've done in the past. This will enable you to cater to all of your teachers, including those who do and those who do not use Google Classroom.
When a teacher imports a Google Classroom class into Realize, it will always create a new class within Realize. These newly created classes will appear alongside any classes that were previously created through either an EasyBridge integration or through manual class creation directly within Realize. The Google-created classes will be clearly marked with a Google Classroom icon, so teachers can easily distinguish them from any classes in Realize that are not Google-linked. Teachers who only want to use the Google-linked classes in Realize can connect non-Google classes to Realize in their Realize settings. Teachers then can tell students to only access Realize through the Google Classroom assignments created by the teacher via the Realize integration.
For EasyBridge Plus, there are two options:
- If your district is among those integrated with EasyBridge Plus and supplying matching Google account name Federated ID's in your ingestion files, the student will have one Savvas identity for Realize access if a student is rostered to an EasyBridge class and also part of an imported Google Classroom class. The student's Savvas identity is created through the EasyBridge import process.
- If your EasyBridge Plus district has Google Classroom linking enabled, but is not supplying matching Google account name Federated ID's in your ingestion files, students are prompted to connect their Google Classroom account with their Savvas account the first time they access a Realize assignment in Google Classroom.
Yes. Teachers in EasyBridge Plus districts can connect their Google Classroom classes with their Realize classes that are generated by EasyBridge. Learn more in the Google Classroom Account Linking help file. It is important to note that if Google Classroom linking is ON, all students need to be sent with the nightly ingestion.
No, the data you send to Easybridge will not be overwritten by any activity invoked by teachers using the Google Classroom integration. Instead, all Google-imported classes create new class rosters that use Google Classroom as the system of record for the classes instead of EasyBridge, and all Easybridge classes will continue to be provisioned by your data files.
If your district is among those who use Google as the Identity Provider in the SAML SSO integration with Easybridge and Realize, then students will be able to sign into Realize with their Google identity and access the eText. For all other students, we recommend that they always access Realize via Google Classroom assignments. It is possible for the teacher to create an assignment of the eText itself to provide direct access to the Realize eText.
Teachers and students can continue to access Realize via your Google waffle icon link, because your district is integrated using Easybridge Plus with Google as your Identity Provider.
We recommend contacting your SIS vendor to see what they might offer. You can also review the following link provided by Google to see if your SIS application works with Google Classroom.
